Missionally Engaged

“Unprecedented times give us unprecedented opportunities for the Gospel.” — Mack Stiles

During this unique season, we are committed to be four things:

While everything is closing down, Jesus is continuing to build his church.

Be Ambassadors

Paul wrote to the church in Corinth and told them who they were: “We are ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20). During this time of quarantine, see yourself as an ambassador for Jesus in your neighborhood. When your neighbors see you, can they see Jesus? Are we loving like Jesus would love? Are we motivated by compassion to help the hurting or paralyzed by fear and self-preservation to only look out for ourselves? Live as a missionary in the mission fields of your neighborhoods.

Hello Cards

Paul said this in Acts 17:26-27: “From one man he has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. He did this so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.” So God has determined where we will live and who our neighbors will be. He did this so that they might seek God and perhaps even reach out and find him. During this time of fear and worry for so many, this is a unique opportunity to let the love of Jesus shine through us into our mission fields he has placed us in: our neighborhoods. Attached to this email is a card that you can print out and leave in your neighbors mail boxes. Be sure to wash your hands and be respectful. But also be aware that there might be people in our neighborhoods that are alone and afraid. This gives us a chance to bring people to the peace that only Jesus can give. You can download the card here.

Eat Local

While restaurants remain open for carry out and pick up. Correlli’s in particular has been a great partner with us by helping us with pizza at our weekly Grove Students Midweek Bible Study. They are located in downtown Clermont just across from the office and Hanks Electric. Be sure to let them know you are from The Grove and that you appreciate their generosity and service to our student ministry.

Be Ready

I have also reached out to the mayor of Minneola and the principal of Grassy Lake Elementary School to let them know we are ready to help in any ways we can. If I hear from them, I will be sure to pass along information and ways to serve so that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus.
